Bike for Good is a charity using bikes to do good actions, enabling people to cycle as their mode of transport. The scheme reduces the flow of old bikes to landfill and provides employment, training and nationally accredited City & Guilds qualifications for prisoners. All bikes are refurbished professionally. Our partners include Wheels to Work, University of Derby, Derby Royal Hospital and Sustrans. We also repair and service bikes for the public, and help with bike information. We offer bicycle maintenance training courses at our workshop in Leeds. The fixed bicycles are brought back to Derby and sold at affordable prices to help more local people to start cycling, particularly those on a low-income. The Adelaide Community Bike workshop is a charity op shop for second-hand bicycles, bike parts, and accessories. The work is undertaken by prisoners at HMP Stocken, HMP Nottingham, HMP Swinfen Hall and HMP Sudbury who work towards a "Level 2" City & Guilds qualification in Cycle Mechanics. We take donations of unwanted bicycles from the public that are gathering dust and completely refurbish them to get them back into use. We are a community bicycle recycling initiative which aims to help local people feel healthier and more connected - whilst reducing congestion and pollution. To do this we sell affordable bikes that have been refurbished by men from local prisons. We sell refurbished bikes and offer bike servicing and repairs from our workshop in Derby city centre.
